Astra Babe is pregnant

Astra Babe is pregnant, we have done ultrasound, and we know for sure she’s pregnant. Father to the litter is Canen Kane. Her termin is 21. October 2013. To be honest this is a not planned litter in the first place, but still not a bad combination, so of course we will let Babe have her litter.

Astra Babe x Zac

På fredag var Astra Babe her (Astra Dream x Astra Mars). Hun ble paret med min hannhund Zac (Bwlch Jan x Astra Mick).

… må bare minne om at dette er ikke den Astra Babe som bor her hos oss … (det bor to hunder i Norge med navnet Astra Babe). Denne Astra Babe er forøvrig mamman til min Ice.

Eier av Astra Babe er Gunda Aasenhus Kaiar, og de bor i Trondhjem.

Puppies born tonight

Tonight Rikky got 6 puppies (2 boys and 4 girls). The father to this litter is our Canen Kane.

Among the boys there are one sable and one brown with tan. Among the girls there are two sable and two brown with tan. All puppies are healthy and put on weight. And mother is doing fine.

Keano DNA testet

Keano har blitt øyenlyst fri i en alder av 9,5 år. Videre er han nå også DNA testet fri for CEA/CH, CL og TNS.

Her kommer et fint bilde av Canen Style, hun er planlagt paret med Keano (bildet ovenfor).

Paringen mellom Rikky og Kane har gått fint, så nå gjenstår å vente på valper. Her et fint bilde av Rick, som er Rikkys sønn.

Babes valper er født i dag 5. August. Samler alle bildene i denne bloggen, noen bilder er tatt med iPaden så kvaliteten er ikke den beste. Legger ut bedre bilder på hjemmesiden i morgen.

Astra Babe x Tag

Ja, en liten oppdatering kan jeg slenge ut sånn i forbifarten. Jeg og Babe var en snarvisitt i Holland for en drøy uke siden. Der ble Babe paret med Tag, en tricolour hannhund som er sønn av Int. Supr. Champion “Craig” (Toddy Lamb) og med en like så fin morslinje. Tag er HD røntget fri og DNA fri for CEA.

Babe x Zac puppies: There is time for writing a new blog. Baby blues has turned to puppy socialization for the following weeks. The puppies had their first walk in the living room yesterday. The floor is covered up with linoleum to make sure the original floor won’t be damaged. Now I hope that we don’t get any snow until the puppies have left. Everything is more easy without the snow, because then we also can bring the puppies to the woods so they can experience the nature. They are too small to walk in much snow I think. I’ll try to make some films on the way.

Astra Zena: As I told we did not get any puppies out of Zena and Craig, and I knew that it was a “risky project” to bring her “over there”. She has more then once showed us that it’s not easy to get puppies out of her. I’m not depressed because of that, that’s not typical for my temper. But, I had a nice holiday and with pleasure I will go there again with another girl.
We will try to breed Zena again to a male at this side of the continent. In my mind I think I should go back for Astra Fox (a repeat mating), that’s the bomb proof thing to do. But, I also have in my mind that our Canen Kane is a suitable male for her. Line-breeding Zena on Sadghyl Pip is what we did in the combination with her and Fox, and so it will be with her and Kane too. That could also bring us bomb proof puppies.

Astra Fly: Fly was the next that we were planning to bring to Craig in Ireland. But, that was provided that she came in to season in October, which she didn’t. By now she’s still not in heat. One year ago I said that one of her litter will be with our Sky, that’s what I have always wanted. But, because Craig is older than Sky I thought that we better wait and go for Craig first. But, now this Fly x Sky mating could come through still.

Babe x Zac valpene: Tiden har kommet for å skrive en ny blogg. Den verste ammetåka har lagt seg, og det er tid for å kose seg med valpesosialisering i ukene som kommer. Valpene hadde sin første runde i stua i går. Gulvet er tildekket med linoleum for å sikre at det originale gulvet ikke blir ødelagt. Nå håper jeg bare at snøen holder seg vekk frem til valpene har reist. Alt er så mye enklere når man slipper den snøen, da kan valpene etter hvert også oppdage naturen litt smått og forsiktig før avreise. Jeg synes de er for små til å gå i skogen med mye snø. Jeg skal prøve å filme litt underveis.

Astra Zena: Som kjent ble det ikke valper ut av Zena og Craig, og jeg visste jo at det var et ”risky prosjekt” å bringe nettopp henne ”over there”, hun har jo mang en gang vist at det er vanskelig å få valper ut av henne. Jeg henger ikke med hodet av den grunn, det ligger ikke til min natur å henge med hodet over sånt. Men, jeg hadde en flott ferie som jeg gjerne tar i reprise med en av de andre jentene.
Vi skal prøve å pare Zena igjen, men denne gangen til en hanne på denne siden av kontinentet. I mitt hode tenker jeg at jeg burde ta henne tilbake til Astra Fox (en reprise paring), det er en bombesikker ting å gjøre. Men, jeg har også i tankene at vår Canen Kane er en passende hanne til henne. Å linjeavle Zena på Sadghyl Pip er det vi gjorde i kombinasjonen med henne og Fox, og det er det vi gjør om vi velger henne og Kane også. Det kan også bringe oss ”bombesikre” valper.

Astra Fly: Fly var den neste som vi hadde planer om å bringe til Craig i Irland. Men, det var forutsatt at løpetiden kom som planlagt i oktober, noe den ikke gjorde. I skrivende stund har hun enda ikke fått løpetid. For ett år siden så uttalte jeg at ett av Fly’s kull skulle være med vår egen Sky, det har jeg alltid ønsket meg. Men, siden Craig er en del eldre enn Sky så tenkte jeg at vi fikk vente med Sky x Fly valper og velge Craig først. Men, nå ser det ut til at vi kan stokke om på dette, og kanskje blir det Fly x Sky likevel, vi får se 😉

English: I have great news about Ajax. Ajax, handlet by Atle Skarsvåg, ran in herding trail class 1 yesterday, and passed the herding test as well. Congratulations ! Ajax is a son of our Astra Babe and Rick.

Here is the film of Ajax’s first lesson at sheep, few days before Atle Skarsvåg bought him. And now they have already been at their first trail. I don’t have any new film of him yet.

As I have told you before Zena is not pregnant. I brought her to the vet. just to make sure this was correct, and it was, she is not pregnant.

The Babe pups are growing well, eat, sleep and seem satisfied. Babe has been out with the gang for a long walk today, I belive she enjoyed to be out running again.

Here is the film I promised from Zac herding. Zac had hard work with these sheep, as they were shy from people and dogs.

English: We are happy to tell that Craig’s hipscore result is here, and he got 3-2, which should be something like an A (..I think..), that’s great as he is 10,5 years old now.

 

But, the other side of this storry is that we don’t think that Zena is pregnant. So far Zena is just as slim as a teenager, and there is 6 weeks since she was mated.

 

 

 
Anyhow, we are sitting here watching TV, waiting for the Chilean people from the mining accident to come out. And, we are also waiting for the Babe pups. Babe are definitively pregnant. Could be about six pups, who knows 😉
